The Sunspot Group AR 1035 Close-up with DMK camera

Hi All,

Here is my shot of the Sun from 12/16/09 12:45pm E.S.T.

The sun has started its sunspot activity for Cycle 24,

The Sun with Sunspot group AR1035, has been on the sun for 4 days now, .go take a look (safely with a solar filter of course)!

The whole disk shot was captured with my Canon Rebel Xsi 12 megapixel DSLR, and a 6” diameter Cave reflector, for 1/2000 of a second exposure at ISO 400, with an Orion Glass solar filter.

The Sunspot Close-up photos were captured with my 10” diameter telescope in my backyard observatory, using a DMK webcam attached to the scope and a Baader Solar filter.
I captured 1200 frames and stacked in Registax, to show the surface and sunspot details close-up.

Now NASA notified me that a very Large CME flare came off the Sun from this Sunspot and is heading towards the Earth’s, so we may get a chance to see Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis, tonight or tomorrow night .

Unfortunately it looks like clouds and snow for a few days!

Best Regards,

John Chumack
