Meade ETX-LS
There's a growing body of chatter on the Web about the first truly major change in the ETX line, the ETX-LS. An official spec sheet has yet to be released, but it looks like a 6" ACF SCT on a completely redesigned single-arm mount. It looks like a lot of the features of the MySky has been incorporated into the firmware along with a built-in CCD camera. The primary purpose of the camera seems to be to allow the telescope to automaticlly locate and center alignment stars (which implies a wide field of view), but can also be used for basic imaging. OPT is even taking pre-orders based on an estimate of the retail price and final specs. If you Google 'Meade ETX LS' you should get several good hits. From what I've seen it'll be a neat gadget-laden telescope that should be a lot of fun to use if you like gadgets.
It'll be a fun show to watch as this new telescope works its wasy o the market as we get our first real look at it.

New Meade ETX-LS
I agree with Jeff that Meade is in a bit of trouble. It will take good products with some wizz-bang approaches like this to turn them around.
Hopefully this telescope will do the trick. I know I'm interested in this new scope as well as what they might do with their larger lines such as the LX200-400. It will have to be bug-free as many of their other "go-to" scopes were plagued with problems on their first release.
They can not afford a problem product in their situation. I wish them the best of luck and really hope this is a slam-dunk!

I hope it helps their stock value
I own about 600 shares that have a value of $70 ($0.13 a share). I want the value to come up to about a $1.00 a share so I can afford to sell it.
Meade has been slipping in the market and in quality. I don't think that they will recover.
SWEET! I spotted an article
SWEET!
I spotted an article about this on 'gizmodo' last week, but without many details.
I look forward to seeing one of these in action - to see it use the CCD to do the alignment should be very cool.
