Epsilon Aurigae - A Mysterious Variable Star - a call to astronomers

Hi all,

Here is my shot of 7 Epsilon Aurigae a strange/mysterious 27 years variable star...the AAVSO is looking for observers to join Citizen Sky to monitor this star to help solve the mystery.

Astronomers have been trying to figure this one out since 1821.

Since my National Science Foundation Grant(Hands on Astrophysics Project) to do work for the AAVSO's HOA project back in 1993 to 1996, I studied well over 77 variable stars captured on film for them during that time, and have always love the fact that amateurs can actually contribute to serious science through the AAVSO.

They recently went online with another new way to contribute....

Consider joining and contributing your observations at the link below.

My 7 Epsilon Aurigae Shot was taken last night from JBSPO with my little 5" vixen reflector & Canon Rebel Xsi DSLR for 45 minutes at ISO 400.

Its the brightest star in the FOV at 3.03 magnitude, but should start dimming soon.

Best Regards,
John Chumack
